My name is Waniya Darky Ilu, I am student of kaduna state university, 400L and I am from kaduna state . I am a crayfish vendor, a business young lady who is passionate about earning and creativity. As a student, selling of crayfish has helped me meet up my fees and has open me to a lot of opportunities and a lot of experience, and this LAWS grant is one of them.
As a crayfish vendor, it takes more than just making profit for me. Being innovative and thinking outside the box it has thought me that “opportunities are sometimes not just luck but also it’s been birth”
With this business of mine, I have learnt a lot about meeting a customers need where I have used creative means of Hawking and delivery of my business. I got a theory that works for me which is..”you don’t wait for your customers, you go to them” this has helped me market my business in different places e.g schools, streets, restaurants and door to door marketing as the list goes on.
Challenges I face in my business are fundings, weather and access to suppliers. Crayfish business need a lot of invest. It needs time and most especially money. As cheap as it can be, to arrive at a high rate of profit, buying in bulk is expected of the retainer. Even with the little money I started with as low as #2500 within a month I was able to save and start purchasing crayfish of #20000. Due to the above challenges I had to quit for a while but with this grant I am starting back with more than enough to purchase a reasonable quantity of crayfish.
I am really greatful for this grant, to Mrs Recheal Kennedy and LAWS management, thank you!
